Praveen Wins Gold Medal In High Jump: India's historic campaign at Paris Paralympics 2024 continues to grow bigger and better, as Praveen Kumar grabs India's record-breaking 6th Gold medal in Men's High Jump - T64 Final.
India have already surpassed their best ever medals tally at the Paralympic Games, but have now recorded their best-ever Gold medals tally with Praveen Kumar's historic win.
With the win, Praveen Kumar has bettered his performance of Tokyo Paralympics, where he grabbed a silver medal with a performance of 2.07m, as his antics at Paris Paralympics saw him record an attempt of 2.08m, which was enough for a Gold medal win.

USA's Derek Loccident grabbed the silver medal with an attempt of 2.06m, and a 2.03m attempt from Uzbekistan's Temurbek Giyazov sealed the Bronze medal finish.
The internet world flooded with joy from Indian fans, as they congratulated the Para athlete on his historic achievement, and Indian PM Narendra Modi applauded his efforts and congratulated him via a tweet from his official 'X' account.
A Glimpse At Praveen Kumar's Career
Praveen Kumar is a 21-year-old Indian Para athlete who competes in the Men's High Jump event. Born in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, the Para athlete is a student from the reputed Delhi University, and has received Arjuna Award back in 2021.
Praveen Kumar took up the sport back in 2019, and is currently under the tutelage of coach Satyapal Singh, who trains him personally. Praveen had a very interesting behind opting for the sport, as he mentioned that internet played a huge part in his decision making.
"I used to play volleyball in school but gradually I got into Para athletics and took part in the high jump event. I came to know about the Paralympics through [an internet] search and found out how to reach there," said Praveen Kumar, as reported by Olympics citing NDTV Sports.
