Vinesh Phogat, India's Paris Olympics-bound woman wrestler, has clinched the Women's 50 kg gold in the Grand Prix of Spain in Madrid on Saturday (July 6). It is pertinent to note that it wasn't a straightforward journey to the medal for the Indian wrestler as received her Schengen visa at the last minute. From then on though, she was spot on in her bouts one after the other and dominated the three on her way to the final before eventually going to strike gold.

In the final, Vinesh was up against Mariia Tiumerekova who is competing as an Individual Neutral Athlete. The two-time World Championship Bronze medallist beat Mariia Tiumerekova 10-5 in the final to continue her dominance in the tournament and went on to seal the gold medal.
