The Indian men's hockey team defeated Spain 2-1 on August 8 to secure their second consecutive Olympic bronze medal, having previously won it at Tokyo 2020. The last time the Indian men's hockey team won back-to-back bronze medals was in the 1968 and 1972 Olympics.

Not only did the Men in Blue end their campaign on a high note, but the bronze medal also serves as a fitting farewell for veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, nicknamed 'The Great Indian Wall of Indian Hockey,' as he concludes his inspiring 18-year career with this match.
