India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has confirmed he will play for Mumbai in the upcoming Buchi Babu multi-day tournament this year, according to Indian Express. Suryakumar will participate in the second match for Mumbai CA XI against Tamil Nadu Cricket Association XI in Coimbatore from August 27 to 30.

The annual Buchi Babu Tournament is held in honor of Mothavarapu Venkata Mahipathi Naidu, popularly known as Buchi Babu Naidu, a pioneer of Indian cricket in the colonial era who organized cricket clubs for native Indians.

"I will be playing Buchi Babu tournament. It will give me a good practice session before the domestic season starts. I will join the team after the 25th. I'm always available to play for Mumbai and club team whenever free," Surya told the Indian Express.

"He has informed us that he is available to play in the Buchi Babu tournament and his name will be added to the Mumbai side. Surya has always turned up for Mumbai cricket whenever he is available. He is one of the few players who turn up for club matches in Mumbai maidans," a source in the MCA confirmed.

Test specialist Sarfaraz Khan has been named the captain of the Mumbai team. With the end of Sri Lanka tour, Indian players will be on a long break before preparing for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh in September. This gives SKY the opportunity to not lose touch with the bat during the long break.

'Captain' Suryakumar Yadav's heroics in India's tour to Sri Lanka

India's tour of Sri Lanka concluded with India losing the three-match ODI series 2-0. Hosts Sri Lanka ended a 27-year drought by winning the third ODI in Colombo by 110 runs. This marks the first time since 1997 that Sri Lanka has defeated India in an ODI series. While Rohit Sharma-led team struggled in ODIs, India previously defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20 series under Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy.
