Paris Olympics 2024: India Men's Hockey Team have defeated Australia 3-2 in their final group game, as the nation sees an end to one if it's biggest sporting hoodoo's. India, before today's game, last defeated Australia in a Men's Hockey game at the Olympics back in 1972, but with an impressive win tonight, the side not only manages to finally beat Australia, but also finish above them in their group, and qualify for the knockouts stages as Pool B runners up, behind Belgium.

India took on Australia in a crucial match, as both sides were rooting and backing themselves for win, given the fact that the second spot in Pool B was on the line. However, just like they did against Belgium, India took a shocking lead against Tokyo 2020 silver medalists Australia via Abhishek's goal.
India, who managed to choke their lead against reigning Olympic champions, took good notes of their mistakes from the game, and applied the tactics well enough against reigning Olympics runners-up by extending their lead to 2-0, as skipper Harmanpreet Singh doubled the advantage.
