Manika Batra made history by becoming the first Indian table tennis player to reach the singles pre-quarterfinals, securing a convincing 4-0 victory over world number 18 and home favourite Prithika Pavade on July 29. The 29-year-old Manika displayed dominance throughout the match, winning with scores of 11-9, 11-6, 11-9, and 11-7.

India's Day 3 at the Paris Olympics didn't see many significant achievements, with men's badminton standing out as the highlight of the day. In men's singles badminton, Lakshya Sen defeated Julien Carraggi of Belgium with a score of 21-19, 21-14.
In women's doubles badminton, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Castro lost to Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida, 11-21, 12-21. Meanwhile, the second group match of men’s doubles badminton between Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty and Germany’s Mark Lamsfuss-Marvin Seidel was cancelled due to a knee injury sustained by Lamsfuss.
In men's hockey, India were on the brink of their first defeat, but captain Harmanpreet Singh saved the day with a last-minute equaliser.
In shooting, India came close to securing another medal, but Arjun Babuta narrowly missed out, finishing fourth in the men's 10m air rifle final.
Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh have qualified for the bronze medal match in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
However, the day ended on a positive note for India as Manika Batra defeated France’s Prithika Pavade in four straight games, advancing to the Round of 16 in Women’s Singles Table Tennis.
