Spy drone scandal has hit Paris Olympics 2024. Even though it's still early days in the 2024 edition of the world's biggest sports festival, there has been a few controversies already, none perhaps bigger than the one that has hit the Canada women's football team.
The impact has been such that Canada are already without their head coach Beverly Priestman with two members of the support staff even sent back home ahead of their opening match against New Zealand. The allegation is that the Canada team staff allegedly recorded training of New Zealand with the help of a spy drone to gain unfair advantage.
Canadian Olympic Committee Issues Public Statement Of Apology: Report
Meanwhile, the Canadian Olympic Committe (COC) has issued a public statement, apologising for this incident. They even said that a non-credited team staff has been detained following the incident after a formal complaint from New Zealand football. The same has been claimed in a report carried by The Telegraph.

Because of integrity being of extreme importance in sports, Canada's coach Priestman has claimed that she would not coach the side in the match against New Zealand before being formally suspended. It is further being learnt that FIFA has also started an investigation into the matter.
They have assigned a disciplinary committee the task of investigating whether or not the Canadian staff and coach tried to unfair means at a prestigious tournament like the Paris Olympics 2024. However, it is to be noted that even though several areas of Paris are no flying zones, tourists are using drones to get an eagle-eye view of the sites where main events are set to take place.
