India's Paralympics 2024 contingent returned to a hero's welcome at Delhi Airport on Tuesday (September 10). The country achieved its best-ever performance at the Paralympics, finishing 18th in the points table with a total of 29 medals—7 gold, 9 silver, and 13 bronze.
A total of 84 para athletes represented India in the games. India entered 2024 Paris Paralympics with the mission of winning at least 25 medals, and the event turned out to be the most successful Paralympics for the country to date.
The 2024 Paris Paralympics is officially India's most successful Paralympic Games ever, surpassing the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, which were previously the country's best.

At Tokyo 2020, India sent 54 athletes and won 19 medals—five gold, eight silver, and six bronze. India set a new benchmark at Paris by winning its 20th medal and ultimately secured 29 medals, including seven golds, breaking the Tokyo record of five golds. India's ranking improved from 24th in Tokyo to 19th in Paris, marking its highest position to date.
