New Delhi: New Zealand on Wednesday defeated Scotland by 16 runs in Group 2 match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021. New Zealand's win over India has caused a major setback to India's hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals. This is New Zealand's second win in three matches.


Blackcaps now have a total of four points and have further strengthened its chances of securing berth in the semi-finals. Batting first, New Zealand scored 172/5 and then restricted Scotland to 156/ 5 in 20 overs. For Scotland, Michael Leask scored the maximum 42 runs off 20 balls and remained unbeaten. NZ speedster Trent Boult and spinner Ish Sodhi bagged two wickets each for their team.


Meanwhile, New Zealand opener Martin Guptill attained a huge milestone in NZ vs SCO match. Guptill scored 93 runs with help of 7 sixes and 6 fours against Scotland tonight and with this he has successfully completed 3000 runs in T20 International cricket. The veteran batsman has become only the second cricketer in the world to do so. He achieved this feat in 101 innings off 105 T20 games.






Indian captain Virat Kohli is still at number one in the list of batsmen who have scored the maximum runs in T20 International cricket.  Kohli currently has 3225 runs in 86 innings off 92 matches in T20 International cricket with highest score of 94 not out.  While Guptill has two centuries to his name, his best score is 105 runs.


Virat Kohli has scored 29 T20 International fifties while Guptill has scored 30 fifties in his T20 International career. Team India's Rohit Sharma is at number three in the list of highest run-scorers in T20 International cricket with four T20 International centuries.
