New Zealand on Tuesday announced a 15-man squad for the final match of the World Test Championship against India, in Southampton from June 18-22.


Captain Kane Williamson, who did not play the second Test against England, fast bowler Tim Southee, wicketkeeper BJ Watling and all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme have been named in NZ's squad for WTC Final against England. Williamson and Watling did not play in the second match against England due to injury.

New Zealand's 15-man squad for World Test Championship (WTC) Final Against India: Kane Williamson, Tom Blendle, Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Will Young.


Commenting on the squad selections, Coach Stead said.


“Kane and BJ have certainly benefitted from their week of rest and rehabilitation and we expect them to be fit and available for the final.


“Playing in a World Cup Final is a really special occasion and I know the guys are looking forward to getting into their work here in Southampton.


“India are a world class outfit who possess match winners all through their line-up, so we’re under no illusion about how tough they will be to beat.”


A historic win against England on their home soil ahead of the historic WTC final against India has boosted the confidence of the BlackCaps. 


In the England vs New Zealand 2nd Test, England, while batting first, scored 303 runs. Chasing the target, New Zealand, in their first innings, took the lead by scoring 388 runs.  In their second innings, England was bundled up for just 122 runs  by the Kiwi bowlers and New Zealand simply chased down the 38-run  target after  losing two wickets.
