Malaysia Masters: PV Sindhu Beats Ohori To Join Nehwal In Quarters

PV Sindhu brushed aside her Japanese opponent in just 30 minutes to join her country-mate Saina Nehwal in the last eight of the Super 500 event.

PV Sindhu secured a berth in the quarterfinal of the Malaysia Masters after beating Aya Ohori in straight games at Kuala Lumpur. Sindhu easily got the better of Japan's Aya Ohori, winning the match 21-10, 21-15 in just 34 minutes. PV Sindhu brushed aside her Japanese opponent in just 30 minutes to join her country-mate Saina Nehwal in the last eight of the Super 500 event. This was Sindhu's ninth straight win over the Japanese, maintaining a 100 percent winning record against her. Sindhu will take on either world No.1 Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan or seventh seed South Korean Sung Ji Hyun in the quarter-finals. It was curtians for India's men shuttlers at the event after both HS Prannoy and Sameer Verma lost their respective second round matches On the other hand, Sameer went down in a hard-fought battle against Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia. The Indian missed a quarter-final berth narrowly as he suffered a 21-19, 21-20 loss in a closely fought match, lasting for 52 minutes. Prannoy too, bowed out after going down 21-14, 21-16 to ace Japanese shuttler Kento Momota in the 45-minute affair.
