New Delhi: In the wake of the deadly COVID-19 in India, all the sporting events got either cancelled or postponed as the government has put the entire nation in a 21-day lockdown to combat the pandemic.
The coronavirus outbreak saw Chennai Super Kings (CSK) training camp get called off and fans who were wholeheartedly waiting for the much-anticipated comeback of their favourite Mahi, now have to wait for more as the cash-rich league's 2020 edition has been postponed to April 15.
Lakshmipathy Balaji on MS Dhoni's preparation for IPL 2020
CSK bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji revealed that India's ageing cricketing hero - MS Dhoni - looked 'very intense' during CSK's training camp even though he had not been part of any form of competitive cricket since India's heartbreaking exit from the 2019 World Cup.
"Dhoni was looking good, fit. He focused on training just like he always does and was as normal as he has always been. He trained like the way he did last year or 2 years ago. There is nothing that changes when it comes to his preparation. His routine, his mindset, everything is the same," Balaji told indiatoday.in.
"Dhoni was focussed on getting ready for the IPL. He is that kind of a person who always takes it one moment at a time."
Will MS Dhoni Play T20 World Cup in Australia?
IPL 2020 will be a "major" deciding factor of MS Dhoni's comeback - his chances to play the mega ICC tournament in October. BCCI is confident that they can pull off IPL 2020 even if the lucrative T20 tournament starts from the first week of May but the rising cases of fast-spreading COVID-19 in India and all across the globe have put the fate of IPL 2020 hanging in the balance.
