New Delhi: Team India's star middle-order batter KL Rahul, who was ruled out of India's tour of England due to injury, has reached Germany for treatment. The 30-year-old sustained a groin injury due to which he was forced to get ruled out of the England tour. In regular skipper Rohit Sharma's absence, BCCI named KL Rahul as India captain for five-match T20 series against South Africa. However, he was ruled out ahead of the series and Rishabh Pant was given the captaincy in his place.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul has reached Germany for his treatment. He himself shared his photos on social media, urging his fans to pray for his speedy recovery.
According to several media reports, Rahul will remain in Germany for about a month and then he will most likely make himself available for the West Indies tour. KL Rahul led Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022. He also had pain during IPL 2022 but it was not serious at that time. The BCCI had earlier said in a statement that Rahul would be sent to Germany for treatment.
Going abroad simply means that Rahul will miss the tour of England, where India will have one Test (from July 1 to 5) and six white-ball matches, including three T20 Internationals and as many ODIs. Rahul was made vice-captain under Rohit Sharma for the tour, but India's selectors will have to name another deputy.
