Former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev suffered a heart attack and is undergoing an angioplasty surgery at a Delhi hospital, reports have claimed. The former team India skipper is currently the guest analyst on ABP News show 'Wah Cricket' for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.


According to the statement by Fortis Hospital, "Former Indian Cricket captain Kapil Dev, came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary Angioplasty was performed by Dr. Atul Mathur, Director of Cardiology Department, in the middle of night."

"Currently, he is admitted to ICU and under close supervision of Dr. Atul Mathur and his team. Mr. Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in couple of days."

Kapil Dev is one of the greatest cricketers to have graced the game. One of the finest allrounders in the history of the game, the former cricketer represented India for well over a decade. He had made his debut for India against Pakistan in Quetta on October 1, 1978, before making his Test debut later that month in Faisalabad.

The Indian great inspired India to an unforgettable World Cup victory in 1983 where they defeated the mighty West Indies in the final at the Lord's. Dev was instrumental in India's World Cup triumph as he scalped 12 wickets while scoring 303 runs at an average of 60.6. Furthermore, he also grabbed seven catches in eight encounters as India lifted the coveted trophy.

More details on Kapil Dev's health are awaited now with his family members yet to give an update about his health. However, he is said to be stable now.
