The inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League is all set to commence on March 4 at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai. While there were many voices in support of a tournament for women modelled on the Indian Premier League, finally the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to go ahead with the plan which resulted in the launch of the WPL
Five sides- Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Giants are taking part in the first-ever season of the WPL. There is a lot of craze among fans for the T20 tournament and before the first ball of the season opener set to be played between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians is bowled, there will also be a grand opening ceremony.
