The 20-year-old English pacer, in the 13th over of the match, first dismissed Kiran Navgire, followed by Simran Shaikh and then removed Sophie Ecclestone to attain a historic hat-trick at the DY Patil Stadium. Wong eventually finished with remarkable bowling figures of 4/15 in her four overs spell at an economy rate of 3.75.
Issy Wong's magical spell (4/15) and Nat Sciver-Brunt's (38-balls 72 not out) batting masterclass helped Mumbai Indians (MI) register 72-run win in the Eliminator clash of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2023) against UP Warriorz on Friday. With this win, Mumbai Indians set up a blockbuster clash against Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2023 final on Sunday.
Having set a daunting 183-run target, Mumbai Indians blew away what had been a resolute top and middle-order of the UP Warriorz, with Wong producing a superb hat-trick in the 13th over to seal the outcome in favour of her side. UP Warriorz were shot out for a mere 110 in 17.4 overs.
Navgire waged a lone battle for UP Warrioz with an entertaining 27-ball 43 with four fours and three sixes, but none of the other batters troubled the scorers in what turned out to be a one-sided contest.
