Nicholas Pooran was batting only on 10 runs, when he was narrowly saved from getting run-out. In the 8th over of Punjab's innings, Pooran played a soft stroke towards the off-side off the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin and wanted to steal a quick single. Pooran came out of his crease but seeing Dhawan picking the ball, he started returning back but DC's Shikhar Dhawan pounced fast on the ball and delivered a fiery throw towards wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.
Dhawan's throw was slightly away from the wicket-keeper Pant, in such a situation, he caught the ball and tried to hit the stump by throwing the ball towards the stumps exactly in the style of Dhoni, but the ball did not hit the stumps, which prevented Nicholas Pooran from being run out.
