The weekend was worth both for Mumbai Indians and their fans as they sealed their spot for the IPL 2023 playoffs. It happened when Gujarat Titans defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday.  Rohit Sharma’s team started the day with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first match of the day by eight wickets and got a fourth position in the points table.


RCB batter Virat Kohli made a brilliant hundred and brought his consecutive century this season and helped RCB post a daunting total of 197/5. In reply, Gujarat Titans who have been playing solid cricket, defeated RCB and chased down the total with five balls to spare. It was Shubman Gill who played a heroic knock and scored a century.  The loss meant that RCB remained in sixth position and MI finished fourth.






Moments after RCB lost the game, Mumbai Indians’ players were spotted celebrating, breaking down into a wild celebration. Mumbai Indians took to its Twitter handle and posted a video.


Talking about MI’s game, they raced to a total of 201/2 in just 18 overs, with the help of an unbeaten inning of 100 runs off 47 balls by Cameron Green. Skipper Rohit Sharma also scored a half-century, making 56 off 37 deliveries.  Earlier, SRH posted 200/5 in 20 overs, kudos to Mayank Agarwal and Vivrant Sharma. Mayank smashed 83 runs off 46 balls while Vivrant slammed 69 off 47 deliveries. For MI, Akash Madhwal starred with the ball and took four wickets.


Mumbai Indians will now play against  Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator on May 24 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Gujarat Titans on the other hand, will lock horns against Chennai Super Kings on May 23 in the first Qualifier at the same venue, MA Chidambaram Stadium.
