SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) is a team which was founded in 2013. The precursor to the Hyderabad’s team was Deccan Chargers who also had won the second IPL under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist. SRH’s performance every year is above average which results in them qualifying for the play-offs. But apart from the 2016 season which they won, SRH have always fell short of a decisive team performance. They have some great foreign players in their ranks. The support staff includes people like VVS Laxman and Muralitharan.
Today, we look at the Top 5 players who could be the difference between SRH qualifying for the play-offs and SRH winning the title. Here is the list of SRH’s top 5 players:
David Warner: He is a sought of a legend of the Hyderabad team. The most important player for SRH over the years has been David Warner. He holds many batting records in SRH, here are the following SRH records held by Warner- Most runs, Most Centuries, Most Fifties, Fastest Fifty, Fastest Century, Best Batting Average, Most Sixes, Most Fours and also the Highest Individual Score. So, to not have him at the top of the list would be injustice to the Aussie. He is also the captain of the side.
Rashid Khan: Arguably the best wrist spinner in T20 cricket is Rashid Khan. He has played 62 IPL matches and picked up 75 wickets with an economy of 6.25 runs. He is the essential man to stop the run-flow for SRH. David Warner bowls him in the powerplay as well. Such is the stature of the Afghani bowler.
Jonny Bairstow: Indian fans would know him very well after the 1st ODI between India and England. He scored 95 runs and hit seven 6s to show what he can do if he is in the mood to score runs. The Englishman could open the innings with David Warner makig them the most explosive batting pair in IPL 14.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: When you look at Bhuvi, you might have an impression of him not being a threatening bowler in T20s but that perception is washed away once he has the ball in his hand. He has been the main bowler for SRH and also has won the Purple Cap – which is given to the bowler picking most wickets in an IPL season – twice. Bhuvi’s form is essential to SRH performing well in the IPL 14.
Kane Williamson: The overseas players’ list only gets better. The New Zealand Captain who was also SRH captain in the absence of Warner. He has scored runs at a strike rate of 135. Williamson’s presence in the middle order of SRH makes their batting very strong.
So these were the Top 5 players according to us in the SRH ranks. But IPL is very unpredictable, where any player can shine on any given day. There are other deserving players like Manish Pandey, Jason Holder, Kedar Jadhav, Mitchell Marsh, etc who couldn’t find a place in the list. Who would be your Top 5 from SRH, tell us in comments.
