SRH Fans Chant 'Kohli, Kohli', Throw Things At LSG Dugout After No-Ball Controversy, Video Viral
SRH fans were clearly not happy with the no-ball decision being reversed by the third umpire.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday saw a bit of a controversy erupt over a decision taken by the third umpire. The incident happened when LSG's Avesh Khan bowled a full-toss which was above waist height and was deemed a no-ball by the on-field umpires. However, the fielding captain felt otherwise and used the DRS to challenge the decision. Despite the replays showing that the ball was above waist high, the third-umpire reversed the on-field umpire's call.
The same did not go down well with home fans who were apparently upset with the ball. In a video which has surfaced on social media, SRH fans were not only seen chanting 'Kohli, Kohli' probably because of the on-field exchange between the members of LSG inclduing Team Mentor Gautam Gambhir and Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) Virat Kohli, they also reportedly threw something at the LSG dugout. Even the play had to be stopped for a while for this reason.

Talking about the match, LSG registered a 7-wicket win. While Krunal Pandya's 2/24 helped Lucknow restrict Hyderabad to 182/6, it was a formidable effort with the bat for them to chase down the total with 4 ball to spare. They lost Kyle Mayers early who did not have the best of outings, managing just 2 off 4. But barring him it was the perfectly timed run-chase with Nicholas Pooran scoring 44 of 13 at a strike rate of over 300 and the remainder except the West Indian all scoring at a rate of over 140 which helped them reach their target in the last over. Prerak Mankad, who came in to bat at the number 3 position for LSG, top-scored for them with an unbeaten 64 off 45 balls.
