RCB vs GG HIGHLIGHTS: Gujarat Giants (GG) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 19 runs in match number 12 of the Women's Premier League (WPL) fixture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. In a measure of desperation perhaps, Gujarat won the toss and elected to bat first to break the trend and then went on to post 199/5. It was the captain leading from the front, in case of Gujarat with Beth Mooney top-scoring with an unbeaten 85 off 51 deliveries.

Mooney along with Laura Wolvaardt (76 off 45) stitched 140-run opening stand, Gujarat's first-ever century partnership in the tournament. While at one stage they were 140/0 in the 13th over, they fell a bit short with three run outs and couple of quick wickets towards the back end of the innings. RCB, however, lost wickets upfront and were always chasing in the match before ultimately managing to post 180/8.

Georgia Wareham's effort (48 off 22) did spark some interest in the chase, late in the match but Bangalore had left themselves too much to do in the end meaning even her vailant knock ended in a losing cause. Ashleigh Gardner, who departed for a first-ball duck with the bat, was among the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat, scalping 2 wickets for 23 runs in her 4 overs.

WPL 2024: RCB Stay At Second Position On Points Tally

Despite RCB's defeat, they remain at the second place on the points table with 6 points from 6 matches. Delhi Capitals with 8 points from 5 matches are the current table toppers with Mumbai Indians also at six points but they have played five fixtures and find their net run rate (NRR) worse than that of Bangalore. Victory for Gujarat means their first points on the board but they remain at the bottom of the table with 2 points from 5 matches.
