Ravindra Jadeja, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder was dismissed 'obstructing the field' during their run-chase against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 faceoff on Sunday (May 12). Jadeja had to walk back to the pavilion after having scored five runs off seven deliveries as did survive a run out after the fielder's throw hit him as he attempted to run back to safety but the fielding team appealed for an 'obstructing the field' and the TV umpire ruled in favour of Sanju Samson & Co.

Jadeja's dismissal came at a critical stage of the run-chase, however, CSK did manage to finish off the chase with 10 balls to spare, winning the match by 5 wickets and move to 14 points on the IPL 2024 table. Having said that, Jadeja's wicket did raise a few eyebrows with the video of his dismissal going viral on social media.

CSK Beat RR By 5 Wickets In Chennai

It was Simarjeet Singh's spell which laid the foundation for CSK's win. His 3/26 kept Rajasthan Royals (RR) down to 141/5 with Tushar Deshpande also chipping in with figures of 2/36. In the run chase, Ruturaj Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 42 off 41 to ensure CSK get over the line. Other than Gaikwad, Rachin Ravindra made 27 off 18 while Daryl Mitchell scored 22 off 13 in what could be CSK's last home game in IPL 2024 if they fail to proceed to the Final Four.

The result implies that RR's wait of a guaranteed berth in the IPL 2024 Playoffs continues with 3 defeats in a row after getting to 16 points. RR are set to take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their remaining league matches of the season.
