Rahul Dravid, the former India head coach, is set to take up a coaching role. He will, however, not be coaching any national side but is likely to reunite with his ex-Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise.

While there is no official confirmation on the same, a report carried by ESPNCricinfo suggests that Dravid has even signed a deal with the franchise, with which he has been associated in the past as well and it happens to none other than the inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Rahul Dravid's Long Working Relationship With RR

Notably, Dravid has a long working relationship with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL. He has led the team as a player and even went on to serve them as their team director and mentor in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. In 2016, Dravid did take up a role with the Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) but he later had a full-time stint as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru that kept him occupied for most of the year and prevented him from taking any other coaching stint with any IPL side.

In 2021, Dravid was appointed as head coach of the Indian men's cricket team. His association with Team India ended with his team managing to end India's ICC title drought of 11 years as they went on to beat South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 to lift the title. Dravid-coached India had previously reached the finals of the World Test Championship 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023 but had fallen short on both the occasions.

RR have not won an IPL since the inaugural season in 2008. Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara has been with the team as their team director and will continue to be part of the team, especially when Dravid won't be around in the Paarl Royals in the SA20 and the Barbados Royals in the CPL.
