Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Sam Curran faces yet another setback after his team's heartbreaking loss against Gujarat Titans in PBKS vs GT IPL 2024 match on Sunday (April 21). The Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council fined Curran 50 percent of his match fee for violating IPL's Code of Conduct in yesterday's game.


Curran was charged for a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. As per an official release from IPL, Punjab Kings captain Curran was fined 50% of his match fees for "showing dissent towards an umpiring decision" in PBKS vs GT IPL 2024 clash.


"Curran committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding," an IPL media release stated.

Article 2.8 includes "(a) excessive, obvious disappointment with an Umpire’s decision; (b) an obvious delay in resuming play or leaving the wicket; (c) shaking the head; (d) pointing or looking at the inside edge when given out LBW; (e) pointing to the pad or rubbing the shoulder when caught behind; (f) snatching the cap from the Umpire; (g) requesting a referral to the TV Umpire (other than in the context of a legitimate request for a referral as may be permitted in such Match); and (h) arguing or entering into a prolonged discussion with the Umpire about his/her decision."


RCB captain Faf du Plessis fined for maintaining slow-over rate 


RCB captain Faf du Plessis has also been fined by the BCCI for maintaining slow over-rate during Sunday's KKR vs RCB IPL match at Eden Gardens. Du Plessis has been fined for the first time this season for slow over rate. Also, this was RCB's first over-rate offence in IPL 2024 season.
