IPL 2021: Star batsman Chris Gayle has been in the news after separating himself from IPL 14. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has targeted Punjab Kings. Pietersen believes Punjab Kings did not treat Chris Gayle well, one of the most successful batsmen in the IPL.

Chris Gayle, however, referred to the problem of bio bubble as a reason of separating himself from the IPL. But Pietersen says the bad behaviour on the part of Punjab Kings forced Gayle to part ways with the team.

Pietersen said, "Gayle was not treated well. He thinks they're using him and getting rid of him. He was also not given a chance to play on his birthday. If he's not happy, let him do what he wants."

Chris Gayle is a game-changing player

Chris Gayle, however, was not proving very effective with the bat in the 14th season of the IPL. This season Gayle played 10 matches for Punjab and scored 193 runs. Punjab Kings provided information Friday about Chris Gayle's departure from the tournament.

Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar also said Punjab will miss Gayle in the remaining matches. Gavaskar said, "A game-changer like Gayle, if he is not in the team then 100 per cent it is a big loss. I don't know what their calculation is. Clearly only four foreign players can play, but he is a game-changer."

Chris Gayle has a bigger challenge ahead, which is the ICC T20 World Cup. West Indies is the only team that has won the competition twice. This might be Gayle's last WC and he would want to end his WC career on a high.
