On Wednesday, fans witnessed a vintage Mahendra Singh Dhoni avatar while playing in the IPL 2023 game against Delhi Capitals. CSK skipper hammered two big sixes and powered his team to a decent total of 167 for 8 in 20 overs. The former India skipper took on left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed for a couple of sixes and ended up playing a nock of 20 runs in 9 balls.

Not only Dhoni’s fans were elated but his wife Sakshi Dhoni and daughter Ziva were also there in the stadium and were seen celebrating the batting heroics of the former India captain.

While batting, none of Chennai’s batters score more than 30 runs as Shivam Dube made 25 runs while veteran batter Ambati Rayudu scored 23 runs were the leading run-makers for CSK.

Mitchell Marsh was the star with the ball as he scalped three wickets for 18 runs against the Men in Yellow. Delhi ended up making 140-8 in 20 overs while chasing a total of 167 runs, losing the game by 27 runs. After this win, the Chennai-based franchise have sealed the second spot in the IPL 2023 standings.

“This is what my job is, I have told them this is what I am supposed to do, don’t make me run a lot and it has been working. This is what I need to do, happy to contribute,” Dhoni said in the post-match conference.

“It turned a lot in the second half. We know that our spinners use a lot more seam than some of the other bowlers. We thought it’ll slow down. We didn’t know what’s a good score. That’s why I wanted the bowlers to bowl their best deliveries but not look for wickets every delivery. That’s when you start not bowling well. I felt 166-170 was a good score. But as a batting unit, we can do better,” the CSK skipper added.
