The thirteenth edition of the IPL will get underway in the UAE in just over a month's time from now and the die hard cricket fans are eagerly awaiting to see their T20 stalwarts in action competing hard while doning their jerseys to vie for the IPL title.

The upcoming season of the IPL will also serve as the comeback tournament for one of IPL's and Indian cricket's greatest icons MS Dhoni, who for yet another season will don the captaincy hat the highly successful Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchisee.

Amid speculations over how long can the CSK icon continue to play in the flagship T20 league, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan put rest to many rumours by stating that Dhoni is good enough to play for the three-time champions till 2022 edition of the IPL. The CSK CEO added that he is at all worried at all about the veteran wicket-keeper batsman's form as he prepares hard to stage a comeback to competitive cricket after a long gap of more than a year.

“We don’t worry about him at all. Yes, we can expect MS Dhoni to be part of both (IPL 2020 and 2021) and probably for even the next year, 2022,” Viswanathan told India Today. “I am getting updates through the media only, saying he has been training in Jharkhand in indoor nets. But we don’t have to worry about the skipper, boss. We don’t worry about him at all. He knows his responsibilities and he will take care of himself and the team.”

While CSK CEO Viswanathan is pretty optimistic about Dhoni's future with CSK in the IPL, he stated that the 39-year-old veteran wicket-keeper batsman knows his role as a skipper very well and will take care of the team in UAE.

Dhoni's last stint in competitive cricket for India was in heart breaking loss against New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup at United Kingdom and since India's crashing out of the marquee event, he took a self imposed hiatus and stayed away from all forms of cricket.

MS Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles, besides the team making it to a record eight finals in ten seasons under his captaincy. Dhoni remains the most successful skipper in IPL history in terms of the number of wins.

Dhoni was all set to make his comeback in IPL 2020 which was originally slated to commence from March 29. However, his much awaited return got delayed after the flagship league was indifintaely postponed by the BCCI due to the coronavirus pandemic.
