Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, England all-rounder Moeen Ali showered praise on his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni. Moeen even rated Dhoni as the best captain that has ever lived.

"MS is probably the best captain ever lived. He is a brilliant guy, and there’s so much about him. He talks a lot about cricket and talks a lot of sense. Very approachable and has really helped my game the way I play now. He gave me confidence. He is certainly a people’s captain," Moeen told Gulf News.

It is pertinent to note that Dhoni remains one of international cricket's most successful captain with him having won every major trophy that was on offer during his time at the helm of Indian cricket team. Under Dhoni, India lifted the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, the Champions Trophy in 2013. He also led the Men in Blue to the number 1 ranking in Test cricket.

Apart from his achievements as a leader with the national team, Dhoni has led his Indian Premier League franchise CSK to as many as four titles in the IPL.

Chennai Super Kings is the best franchise that I have played for: Moeen

In addition to from calling Dhoni the best captain, the 35-year-old also rated CSK as the best franchise that he has played for so far.

"First of all, Chennai Super Kings is the best franchise I have played, due to the way the entire set-up is. They have been running that way for a very long time successfully and they know what it takes to win," he said in the same interview.

"I am really looking forward to playing in Chennai for CSK. There is a huge fan support," Moeen said with the IPL returning to its traditional home and away format this year.
