MS Dhoni is widely regarded as one the best finishers in white-ball cricket. The former India captain may have announced his retirment from international cricket in 2020 but continues to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni recently became the first-ever captain to lead a particular franchise in 200 games when he walked out for the toss alongside Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Even though the four-time winners would have ideally wanted to finish on the winning side to gift their legendary leader a win on the landmark match, the Men in Yellow eventually lost the match by 3 runs. It was all in the hands of the master finisher Dhoni himself on the last ball of the match when the equation was down to 5 needed from 1 ball with Sandeep Sharma running in to bowl for the Rajasthan Royals.
However, Sharma held his nerve to hit the blockhole and did not allow Dhoni to get underneath the ball for his trademark shot straight down the ground. Dhoni was in great form last night and remained unbeatean on 32 off 17 but couldn't finish the match for his side.
After CSK's failure to chase down the total at their fortress, Dhoni's 9-year-old tweet has resurfaced on social media. In this post dated March 24, 2014, Dhoni had said: "Doesn't matter which team wins, I am here for entertainment." His one-liner seems to aptly describe his innings on Wednesday evening.

"I think in the middle overs we needed a bit more strike rotation, there wasn't much for the spinners but they had experienced spinners and we could not rotate strike. It was not that difficult and the ownership (of the loss) should come from the batters," Dhoni said at the post-match presentation.
