It has been a comeback to remember for Mohit Sharma in the Indian Premier League (IPL). While the right-arm fast medium bowler did not get a chance to play a single game from IPL 2020 to IPL 2023, he did not lose hope. The pacer who had once been an intergal part of the Indian national team and even played the 2015 ODI World Cup, however, continued to work hard on his skills and wait for the opportunity.

He was called upon as a net bowler for Gujarat Titans and did not shy away from working hard in the background despite seeing international fame and treatment in the past. After impressing in the nets, he was picked in the squad by GT but had to warm the benches for the first few games. However, as soon as he got an opportunity, he has made an instant impact.

Bringing all his experience into play, he has used his variations of pace and lengths to superb expertise to shine in more than one win of the defending champions this season. Moreover, he has been effective on the field too and an evidence of the same was on display during GT's ongoing away game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

In the last ball of the fifth over of the Kolkata innings being bowled by Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur, who was promoted to bat at number 3 in this match, failed to get the desired elevation and timing on the ball while trying to go over mid on. For a brief moment, it looked like the shot might just clear Mohit who was stationed at the 30-yard circle. However, he made good ground running backwards to complete a fine catch and end Kolkata's experiment of sending Shardul at number 3. The all-rounder departed for a four-ball duck.

The video of his catch was shared by the official handle of the IPL on social media.
