MI vs SRH, IPL 2024 Highlights: Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Suryakumar Yadav brought up his second IPL hundred as Mumbai Indians chased the target with 16 balls remaining. With SRH losing the match, things will start getting heated up in the IPL 2024 points table as there are now three teams stuck at 12 points.
After winning the toss, Hardik Pandya decided to bowl first on a pitch that looked like a batting surface but had a tinge of green in it. SRH openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma did not get the start they are accustomed to as Mumbai bowlers did well and bowled in the right areas with a fair bit of assistance from the pitch. After a while Travis Head started going after the bowlers and SRH were past the 50-run mark in just five overs but Jasprit Bumrah came and struck with Abhishek Sharma’s wicket.
Soon after, debutant Anshul Kamboj picked up Mayank Agarwal’s wicket and then Piyush Chawla removed the dangerous-looking Travis Head. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals but it was Pat Cummins’ brilliant cameo of 35 runs off 17 balls that helped SRH past the 170-run mark as they finished with 173-8 in 20 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav Wins It For Mumbai Indians
In reply, Mumbai Indians got off to a flier but SRH bowlers struck back-to-back and got Mumbai 36-3 in five overs. But the new men in, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma did not let the bowlers settle and kept the boundaries coming at regular intervals. Suryakumar Yadav looked like he was suffering from some groin pain as he was seen limping and his running between the wickets looked inhibited. But that didn’t stop the right-handed batter hitting all around the park as he ultimately won the match for his hide in the 17th over by hitting a six over covers, and also bringing up his second IPL century.
