Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Gujarat Giants (GG) by 47 runs in Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 eliminator match on March 13 (Thursday) at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. With the win, Mumbai Indians reached the WPL 2025 final to set up the title clash with Delhi Capitals on March 15 (Saturday). With this, Mumbai Indians reached their second WPL final and if they win the finals, they will become the first team to win two WPL championships.
Gujarat Giants won the toss and opted to bowl first, putting Mumbai Indians in to bat first. While Mumbai lost Yastika Bhatia early while batting first, it was Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt who shone with the bat for opening WPL season winners. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur scored a blistering 12-ball 36 runs to add finishing touches and help the team to a mammoth 213-4 in 20 overs.

Defending 213-run target, Mumbai Indians struck early as Shabnim Ismail got rid of the in-form Beth Mooney. What worsened the matter even further was Harleen Deol’s run-out that left GG at 34-2 in 4.5 overs. Skipper Gardner too couldn’t contribute enough as she was dismissed for eight runs. Phoebe Litchfield (31) and Bharti Fulmali (30) tried to revive Gujarat Giants' chase, but their efforts went in vain as the team was eventually bowled out for 166 in 19.2 overs, losing the match by 47 runs.
