Mallika Sagar is all set to become the first female auctioneer to conduct an Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. While there hasn't been an official confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yet, a report carried by Cricbuzz has claimed that Mallika, who recently conducted the Women's Premier League (WPL) Auction, will be in charge of the bidding war in the IPL 2024 auction set to be held in Dubai on December 19 (Tuesday).


"An independent professional auctioneer, Ms. Mallika Sagar, will conduct the auction and she will be the sole arbiter as to all aspects of the auction," the BCCI informed franchises as per the report claimed by Cricbuzz.

It is pertinent to note that Mallika had also conducted the inaugural auction of WPL. Moreover, the report claims that the Indian Cricket Board could now look at appointing Indian auctioneers going forward, marking an end to the trend of having foreign auctioneers.

Mallika is an experienced auctioneer and apart from the sporting auctions, the Mumbai-based art collector has conducted several other bidding wars in the last two decades. She boasts of being the first-ever woman auctioneer of Indian Origin at Chirstie's. Apart from her experience of conduction the WPL Auction in the sporting arena, she was also the auctioneer for the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) in 2021.
