Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set to release KL Rahul ahead of next year's Indian Premier League (IPL) season, making him one of the top players to watch out for in the IPL 2025 mega auction, InsideSport reported.
The relationship between Sanjiv Goenka and KL Rahul took a downturn when team owner Sanjiv Goenka expressed his frustration after LSG's humiliating loss against Hyderabad. Clips of this incident were witnessed by fans all over social media.

In what also comes as a bit of disappointing news for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans, it isn't certain that KL Rahul will return to play for RCB. This will only happen if RCB outbids other franchises in the IPL 2024 mega auction to secure his services.
KL Rahul joined Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022. Under his leadership, LSG consistently reached playoffs but could not advance to the knockouts. Last season, LSG was ranked 7th in the points table.
The last time KL Rahul went into IPL auctions, he bagged a whopping Rs 11 crore by Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2018.

KL Rahul has played 132 matches in the IPL so far, scoring 4683 runs. During this period, he has hit 4 centuries and 37 half-centuries. Last season was great for him, as he scored 520 runs in 14 matches in 2024, including 4 half-centuries. Rahul also had impressive performances in previous seasons, scoring 670 runs in 2020, 626 runs in 2021, and 616 runs in 2022.
Virat Kohli stepped down as the captain of RCB in 2022, after which Faf du Plessis was appointed as the new captain. However, the 40-year-old Faf may not stay with the team for long. KL Rahul started his IPL career with RCB in 2013 before moving to Hyderabad. He then returned to RCB and helped the team reach the final in 2016.
