KKR vs RR Highlights: Narine's All-Round Effort In Vain As Buttler's Ton Powers Rajasthan To Biggest Chase In IPL History
IPL 2024, KKR vs RR HIGHLIGHTS: Jos Buttler's ton has snatched victory from a game which seemed to have gone in KKR's Favour.
RR beat KKR By 2 wickets. This is IPL's IPL's biggest run chase and it's Buttler who has played an innings to remember. Narine, for all his all-round brilliance, ends up on the losing side.
And then 3 dot balls from Chakravarthy. This game is far from alive.
Gets there with a six off first ball. 104 off 56 balls. RR need 3 runs.
Chakravarthy To Bowl Final. BRave from KKR. 4 fielders outside, remember.
RR need 9 off 6 after RR managed 19 runs off the 19th over. RR- 215/8 after 19 runs. KKR an over short. Only 4 fielders outside the circle.
The game is still far from dead. Buttler smashes a SIX and a FOUR in the over. Boult sacrificed his wicket as a run run at which point the score was 186/8 after 17.3 Overs. After 18 overs, RR- 196/8. They need Need 28 from 12 balls. A blunder from Keeper Salt meant 5 wides gifted to RR.
Trent Boult Joins Buttler. There is still hope alive for RR, it seems. The IPL never fails to amazes.
Narine Removes Powell but only after the the batter had smashed him for TWO sixes and a boundary earlier in the over. Consequently it's 16 runs and a wicket off 17th over. RR- 178/7 after 17 Overs.
Buttler and Powell take Russell for 17 runs off the 16th over. RR-162/6. They need 62 runs from 24 balls.
36-Ball Half-Century for Buttler. 17 runs come off the 15th over. Four boundaries off the bat of the Englishman against Chakravarthy. The second boundary of the four ones helped him get to the landmark. RR- 145/6 after 15 overs. They need 79 runs from 30 balls.
Rovman Powell Joins Buttler. Match slipping away from RR. They are 125/6. They need 99 runs from 42 balls.
The plan has backfired and surely now the match is KKR's to lose as Varun Chakaravarthy gets two wickets in two balls. First Ashwin departs, getting caught in the midwicket region, falling for 8 off 11. Off the very next ball, Hetmyer has chipped one straight to cover. KKR- 121/6 after 12.2 Overs.
Ashwin has been promoted up the order. He walks in ahead of Shimron Hetmyer. Wonder what's their strategy as he seems to be struggling with the strike rate in this chase.
It's Narine who helps KKR see the back of Jurel. His dream game continues. He beats Jurel on the inside edge and the ball crashes his pads. The on-field decision is not out but KKR review and the decision has to be reversed. RR- 100/4 after 8.4 Overs. Jurel falls for 2 off 4.
Parag departs. He had smashed Harshit Rana for a SIX and a FOUR off the first two balls of the over. On the fifth ball though Rana throws this wide of the batter and Parag, looking to fetch it from outside off, does not get the desired conection and ends up getting holed out. Parag walks back, having made 34 off 14. RR- 97/3 after 7.5 overs.
Narine into the attack. The biggest takeaway with the bat, has made an impact with his fielding and now probably his spell will play decisive role in which way the match will tilt. 9 runs off his first over, including a leg bye and wides. RR- 85/2 after 7 overs.
Great over from RR's perspective. 23 runs coming off it. Boundary through the long leg from Parag to begin the over, a six off a juicy full toss on a free hit from Buttler over long on, a six over midwicket off Parag followed by a boundary bissecting the cover and mid-off region from Parag again. RR- 76/2 after 6 overs. This game is far from over.
Riyan Parag is the new man in for RR.
KKR strike again. It's Harshit Rana who was brought on first change who has made an instant impact. Sunil Narine with a superb catch to get rid of Samson. The RR captain looks to go over the infield but the ball hits the upper part of his bat, offering a chance, accepted by Narine. RR- 47/2 after 4.2 Overs.
Back-to-back boundaries off the bat of Samson to begin the fourth over. 10 runs, coming off the 4th over, second one for Arora. RR- 46/1 after 4 overs.
Samson gets a life. Starc had conceded a couple of boundaries already in the over but off his last ball of the over, he tempts Samson to play a drive away from the body and get the outside edge. However, Varun Chakravarthy, stationed at short third, makes a total mess of it. RR- 36/1 after 3 overs.
Sanju Samson walks in at 3 for RR.
Jaiswal's brief but impactful innings came to an end. He falls 19 off 9. His short innings witnessing three boundaries and a six, including a six and a four off Vaibhav Arora's first over and the innings' second before he ultimately departs, edging one to the slip cordon. RR-22/1 after 1.5 Overs.
Rajasthan's Run Chase Begins. It's Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler who come out to open for RR. Mitchell Starc to start the proceedings with the ball for KKR.
KKR Finish at 223/6 led by Sunil Narine's hundred. Rinku Singh finishes with an unbeaten 20 off 9 deliveries. Good batting performance this. RR haven't yet breached the 200-run mark yet this season but can they do that in an attempt to chase this total down? We will be back with the chase.
Riyan Parag does welll to put the ball in play off the first ball, saving 5 runs for his side before Jurel took a good catch running in to get rid of Venkatesh (8 off 6) next ball. He falls for 8 off 6. KKR- 215/6 after 19.2 Overs.
16 Runs Come Off The Penultimate Over. A six and a four off the bat of Rinku Singh before a boundary from Iyer to finish the over. KKR- 214/5 after 19 overs.
Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer out in the middle for KKR. Avesh and Kuldeep will finish it off for RR.
It has taken a perfect yorker from Trent Boult for RR to see the back of Sunil Narine. The West Indian batter departs, having scored 109 off 56. KKR-195/5 after 17.3 Overs.
Andre Russell falls. Avesh Khan deceives the batter with a slower delivery which helps them see the back of the danger man. KKR-148/4 after 16.1 overs. Russell falls for 13 off 10.
49-Ball Ton For Sunil Narine. KKR get 23 runs off the 16th over. KKR- 184/3. Sunil Narine- 100* off 49, Andre Russell- 13* off 9. 23 runs off the over. SIX, FOUR, SIX, FOUR off successive legal deliveries- all of the bat of Narine to get to the three-figure mark. It's the third hundred by a KKR batter and the first one at the Eden Gardens in their 84th match. KKR- 184/3 after 16 overs.
28 Runs come off the last 2 Overs. Russell and Narine both firing all guns cylinder at this moment. KKR- 161/3 after 15 overs.
Andre Russell has joined Narine in the middle.
Chahal gets a wicket. He gets rid of the KKR captain Shreyas Iyer, given out LBW. Iyer opted for the review but in vain as DRS projection shows the ball would have gone on to hit the stumps. KKR lose a review as well. KKR- 133/3 after 13 overs.
Another 15-Run Over. It's Narine who takes on Ashwin. One six and two boundaries against the off-spinner. KKR- 125/2 after 12 overs. Another 200-run plus total loading?
Raghuvanshi looke to clear the field after seeing a short-ball outside off. However, he gets caught at deep third. End of a good innings from Raghuvanshi who falls for 30 off 18. KKR- 106/2 after 10.4 Overs. Kuldeep Sen gets a wicket.
29-Ball Fifty For Narine. Gets there with a SIX off Ashwin. What a knock. KKR- 100/1 after 10 overs. 11-run over after that 15-run over off the previous over.
15-Run Over. KKR have upped the ante and how. It's Chahal they have gone against in this over. A four off the bat of Raghuvanshi to begin that over before the first six of the evening off the last ball of the over from Narine. KKR- 89/1 after 9 overs.
Ashwin concedes two boundaries in the over as KKR fetch 10 runs off the eighth over. It's that man Raghuvanshi again. KKR- 74/1. Kolkata heading towards a big first innings total yet again.
Spin from both ends as Ravichandran Ashwin comes on from the other end.
Yuzvendra Chahal into the attack, IPL's highest wicket-taker. He does concede a boundary in the over and it's Raghuvanshi again who finds the fence in the long-on region. 8 runs come off the over. KKR- 64/1 after 7 overs.
Sunil Narine- 23* off 16, Angkrish Raghuvanshi- 15* off 7. Avesh the wicke-taker so far.
Narine finishes the powerplay with a bang. A SIX followed by a FOUR. 16 runs coming off that Kuldeep Sen over, including four leg byes. KKR- 56/1 after 6 Overs. TIME OUT!
Three boundaries in an over from Raghuvanshi. All proper cricketing strokes, nothing fancy, no aerial route. Delightful on the eye. KKR get 14 runs off the over. They are 40/1 after 5 overs.
Avesh concedes 6 runs but gets a wicket in that over. A boundary off a low full toss coming in that over, it's Narine who sent the ball to the boundary ropes. KKR- 26/1 after 4 overs.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi walks in at 3 for KKR.
RR have an early wicket. It's a one-handed stunner from Avesh Khan which helps Rajasthan get rid of Phil Salt. It was hit straight back towards him but the bowler went low to his left to grab a great return catch off his own bowling. Salt falls for 10 off 13. KKR- 21/1 after 3.3 Overs.
Salt gets his first boundary off this evening too. It's against Boult as the batter plays straight and manages to get it past mid-off and get the fence. That allows KKR to fetch 8 runs off the third over. KKR- 20/0 after 3 overs.
Avesh Khan is sharing the new ball with Boult for RR. His over goes for 10 runs but only 6 against his name as one ball bounces past batter and keeper for boundary and was signalled as byes. Narine got the first boundary off the bat this evening. KKR- 12/0 after 2 overs.
Top over from Boult. Just 2 runs from his and RR's first over of their bowling innings. KKR-2/0 after the 1st over.
Philip Salt, Sunil Narine open for KKR. It's Trent Boult who has the new ball in hand for RR.
