RCB vs SRH Innings Highlights: Sunrisers Hyderabad (RCB) have posted the highest-ever team total in the Indian Premier Legaue (IPL) yet again. While they had set the record earlier in this season when they had managd to post 277/3 in 20 overs, they have gone one better against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnasway Stadium on Monday (April 15) when thet posted 287/3.
RCB won the toss and elected to chase at their home ground. However, they would have expected a much better performace by their bowlers when captain Faf du Plessis made that decision. The Orange Army continued the way they have been performing throughout the competition with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma taking the attack to the opposition right from ball 1. Head scored a 41-ball 102, setting the foundation of a massive first innings total.
Head's innings was decorated with 9 fours and 8 sixes. He first stitched a 108-run stand with Abhishek Sharma in 8.1 overs before he was joined by Heinrich Klaasen. Head might have got out in the 13th over but almost immediately, the baton of taking the attack to the opposition was carried forward by Heinrich Klaasen who scored 67 off 31, an innings studded with 2 fours and 7 sixes. Klaasen too fell in the 17th over.
Contributions from Aiden Markram (32* off 17), Abdul Samad (37* off 10) and Abhishek (34 off 22) were all useful as Hyderabad shattered their own record and smashed quite a few on their way to the new IPL record. This is also the second-highest total in all T20s.
RCB Set Unwanted Record
SRH's record now means that they have now completed an embarrassing double of conceding the highest-ever team total while also posting the lowest-ever team total. RCB, currently placed at the bottom of the table, need to set a new record later in this match if they want to fetch 2 points from this match. Currently, RCB have 2 points from 6 matches.
