Chennai Super Kings Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, Match 1 - Match Report

Chennai Super Kings hosted Royal Challengers Banglore for the season opener at their fortress, MA Chidambaram Stadium, famously known as Chepaux, as the defending champions were commencing a new era. After winning the toss, RCB elected to bat first and did start on an impressive note as the side were 33/0 after 3 overs, but a certain 'Fizz' rattled their top and middle order, as Bangladeshi left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman ran riot over the RCB batting lineup with 4 wickets, and recording the figures of 4/29 in his 4 overs.

RCB saw themselves reeling at 78/5 in 12 overs and were staring down at a barrel of a total less than that of 140, but Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik had other plans, as the duo managed to register a partnership of 95 off 50 balls for the 6th wicket and managed to put on a total of 173.

In reply, the RCB bowlers made a horrid start as Rachin Ravindra went on rampage mode in his IPL debut, as the Kiwi all-rounder smashed a quickfire 37 off 15 balls, which gave the CSK side a great momentum in heir chase of 174. New signing Cameron Green did give a ray of hope for a comeback by getting rid of Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell, but Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube scored an unbeaten partnership of 66 off 37 for the fifth wicket and guided the Yellow Army to an impressive 6-wicket win over RCB.
