The Indian Premier League (IPL) has become one of the most sought after sporting league around the world. Ever since its inception in 2008, the T20 cricket competition has become among the most looked forward to events in the cricket calendar. Most bilateral cricket tournaments also come to a halt when the IPL is on and it is a dream of many a players across the world to feature in this T20 competition.
While the youngsters and cricketers from the present generation can still aspire to play in this league, it remains a fantasy of cricket lovers to see how yesteryear cricket stars and the legends of the game would have performed and which team they would have liked to be a part of had they got a chance to play in the IPL.
And when India's cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar was asked to pick one team which he would have wanted to play for, he picked MS Dhoni's CSK other than Mumbai Indians.
"Mumbai Indians, who else? If not, then I would like to play for Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings for two reasons, firstly, the Chennai owners are passionate about cricket, they have done so much for the sport. Srinivasan sir has done a lot for cricket," Gavaskar told Star Sports.
"And the second big reason would be to sit in the dressing room with MS Dhoni and see how he captains the team. Is he as calm and composed in the dressing room as he is on the field? Does he lose his cool when someone has dropped a catch or somebody didn't back up a fielder? That's what I would like to know," he added.
Notably, IPL turned 15 on Tuesday with the first-ever game of the league being on April 18 in Bengaluru between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata had won that game by 82 runs.
