In quite a unique achievement Sachin Tendulkar and son Arjun became the first-ever father-son duo to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The duo became the owner of this record when Arjun made his debut for the Mumbai Indians, the same franchise which his legendary father led during his playing days. Even though the left-arm fast medium bowler did not get a wicket in his first match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, he was impressive in his first over after being handed the new ball.

In the very next game which was an away game for MI against the Sunrisrers Hyderabad, Arjun found himself amidst the wickets as he picked up the final wicket of the SRH innings to wrap up the game and clinch Mumbai's third straight win in IPL 2023. He finished with figures of 1 for 18 after getting rid of Hyderabad's Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

During the broadcast of the SRH vs MI IPL 2023 match on Tuesday, former West Indies cricketer and commentator Ian Bishop made a massive revealation on-air. Bishop revealed that the legendary cricketer Sachin actually had tears in his eyes when his son made his IPL debut.

"The floor manager had a word with Sachin, I won't call out his name, the floor manager, he mentioned that he loved the fact that Arjun is now playing in the IPL. Sachin had tears in his eyes. And he said, you know when I bowled the first time in the IPL, my first over went for five. Arjun's first over went for five as well. So Sachin had that in his mind all the way through," Bishop said on-air during the television braodcast on Star Sports.

As far as MI are concerned, they three wins from five matches now and are at the sixth place on the points table since their net run rate is the worst of the five teams that are tied at six points after five matches (-0.164).
