Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a forgettable outing on Sunday in their match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match 60 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday. In their home game against RCB, nothing at all seemd to go RR's way especially in the latter half of the first innings and the entire second innings. RCB won the toss and opted to bat first following which they posted 172. In response, RR's in-form openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler both departed for a duck as the Men in Pink were bowled out for a paltry 59.

As soon as their innings ended, the inaugural champions created an unwanted record as they registered the third-lowest total in the history of the tournament. This was also the lowest total in the ongoing edition of the league as RCB, who were looking for a win and boost in their net run rate (NRR) benefited immensely as they recorded biggest victory in IPL history, winning by 112 runs. This comes as a huge boost to RCB who have an away game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before a home fixture against Gujarat Titans (GT) remaining in the league stage of the competition.

On what was a difficult surface was stroke making, half-centuries from Faf du Plessis (55 off 44) and Glenn Maxwell (54 off 33) apart from an amazing cameo from Anuj Rawat (29* off 11) in the back end of the innings helped Bangalore score in excess of 170. Even though the score looked just a bit above par at the halway stage, it proved to be more than sufficient in the end.

Wayne Parnell was the pick of the bowlers for Bangalore in the second innings and finished with figures of 3/10. Michael Bracelwell (2/16) and Karn Sharma (2/19) were the other bowlers who impressed for the Du Plessis-led side who are now at the fifth position on the table with 12 points.

RR, meanwhile, can still make it into the Playoffs but for now find themselves at the sixth place from 12 points and a match to go.
