Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Prabhsimran Singh became a household name in India and around the world with his fantastic hundred against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on hundred. The 22-year-old took his time on what wasn't particularly a batter's paradise before unleashing his range of strokes in the second half of his innings and converting his start into a hundred. The significance of his innings could be gauged from the fact that the next best score by a PBKS batter was 20 by Sam Curran which came off 24 balls.

His hundred guided PBKS to 167/7 which ultimately proved to be enough and Singh's ton ended up on the winning side as DC could only muster 136/8 which meant a comfortable 31-run victory for Punjab. The result meant DC became the first team to be knocked out of the race to the Playoffs in IPL 2023.

Post Prabhsimran's hundred, an old video of legendary Sachin Tendulkar being left impressed by what he saw of the batter has gone viral on social media. The video was shared by one of the all-time great batters on October 10, 2020. Tendulkar was most pleased with the sound that came off Prabhsimran's bat whenever it made connection with the ball.

"I really liked what I saw of @prabhsimran01 in @lionsdenkxip’s previous game. Here are my observations about him from that game," he wrote along with the video.

Courtesy of Punjab's win, they remain alive in the race to the Playoffs and will not only have to win their remaining games with healthy margins but also hope that a few of the other results go in their favour. PBKS have 12 points from 12 matches and can reach a maximum of 16 points.
