Priety Zinta's Punjab Kings (PBKS) spent a whopping amount of INR 5.25 crore and INR 9 crore in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 and 2022 auction to acquire services of Shahrukh Khan in world's richest T20 tournament. After a string of ordinary outings, Shahrukh finally repaid the franchise by playing a fiery cameo to power Shikhar Dhawan-less Punjab Kings to a memorable 2-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday (April 15). Shah Rukh scored 23 runs in 10 balls to ensure Punjab's win with three balls remaining.

PBKS star batter Shahrukh has been named after acting legend Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Meanwhile, the PBKS hard-hitter has finally revealed why his parents named him after the mega Bollywood superstar.

"I’m the first boy born in the family. I’ve got a lot of sisters in the family and they were all huge fans of Shah Rukh Khan. I was born in the year 1995, and his film, Baazigar had released somewhere around 1993-94. And my mom wanted to name me after him so that’s the reason," Shahrukh said in a video posted by IPLT20.com in an interaction with Sikandar Raza.

Chasing the target of 160 runs, Punjab Kings lost opener Atharva Tayde for a duck in the very first over. Prabhsimran Singh got out in the third over and Matthew Short returned back to the pavilion in sixth over, leaving Punjab Kings reeling at 45 after losing 3 wickets in first 6 overs.
