Nitish Rana to lead Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023

KKR's regular skipper Shreyas Iyer is set to miss at least the initial phase of IPL 2023 as the star middle-order batter will undergo a surgery due to his injury. It is highly likely that Iyer might later be ruled out of the entire season and taking note of this, the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise named Nitish Rana as captain of Kolkata Knight Riders for 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Iyer's back pain resurfaced during the recently-concluded India vs Australia Test series and it may take more than 6 months for him to return to action.

However, despite playing as a top order batter, Nitish is yet to score a century in the IPL.
