KKR vs RCB in IPL 2023: Two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) attained a dominating 81-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match number nine of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. With this, Kolkata Knight Riders got their first win in their second match of IPL 2023. It was Shardul Thakur's first IPL half-century (68 runs off 29 balls) that helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) post 204 runs on board for loss of 7 wickets, eventually winning the game by 81 runs on Thursday (April 7).

Mumbai-based 31-year-old all-rounder Shardul Thakur was traded from Delhi Capitals (DC) to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to Delhi Capitals ahead  of IPL 2023. Shardul's 29-balls 68 runs innings was laced up with 9 boundaries and 3 huge sixes. The star all-rounder also shared a 103-run partnership with Rinku Singh (46 runs off 33 balls) for the sixth wicket. Shardul had come out to bat when Kolkata were reelig at 89/5 in 11.3 overs. His batting heroics helped Kolkata steady their sinking ship, post a mammoth first innings total against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).


Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan , who was in attendance to watch KKR vs RCB clash in Kolkata, was spotted giving a standing ovation to Shardul for his superb innings. The video of the same went viral on social media.






Shardul Thakur bowled well in the second innings as well, taking the important wicket of RCB's Michael Bracewell during the innings of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was the only pacer who picked a wicket during RCB's innings. The remaining nine wickets were taken by the spinners.

In reply to Kolkata Knight Riders' 204 run total, Royal Challengers Bangalore were able to score only 123 runs in 17.4 overs.
