On Friday, Royal Challengers Bangalore roped in Wayne Parnell and Vyshak Vijay Kumar as replacements for Reece Topley and Rajat Patidar for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Parnell is the left-arm pacer who has featured in 56 T20Is, 6 Tests, and 73 ODIs for South Africa. He has played 26 IPL matches too and RCB brought him by paying INR 75 Lakh.
"Topley suffered a shoulder injury while fielding during RCB's opening match of the season against Mumbai Indians (MI). Patidar did not feature in RCB's first game of the season due to a heel injury. He has not recovered yet and is ruled out of the 16th edition of the tournament owing to the same," Indian Premier League said in a statement.
Vyashak Vijay Kumar on the other hand plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket and has taken part in 14 T20s were picked 22 wickets. RCB paid him INR 20 Lakh to join their squad.
The England-based pacer Topley sustained a right shoulder dislocation while playing for Bangalore in the opening match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 2. Topley picked finished the match with the figures of 1/14 as he took the wicket of Cameron Green. Now that he has been ruled out due to an injury, Topley has returned to the UK.
The Madhya Pradesh-based batter on the other hand was forced to miss out on the season because of an Achilles heel injury. He made 333 runs in seven games with the help of a century and two half-centuries average of 55.50 and a strike rate of 152.75.
In the 2023 edition of IPL, RCB had a decent start but then they lost a match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday by 81 runs.
