Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs in a low-scoring thriller on Monday night but more than the result of this fixture, it was the heated altercation between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir that grabbed all the limelight. Several videos and pictures have gone viral on social media in which the two star cricketers can be seen getting engaged in a verbal banter. Things got so intense that players and support staff of both LSG and RCB had to intervene to separate Virat and Gambhir.

In the aftermath of the incident, Indian Premier League (IPL) organisers slammed Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir with hefty fines, asking the cricketing stalwarts to pay 100 percent of their match fee.

Cricketing rivalry between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli dates back to 2013 season of Indian Premier League (IPL) when they both locked horns for the first time in public, at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Back then, Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Virat captained Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
