The 2023 edition of the IPL has entered its final stage, as playoff games are set to start on Tuesday. It was a topsy-turvy ride for fans as they witnessed both nail-biting thrillers and controversial moments so far this season. On Tuesday, one such incident came to the spotlight, when Delhi police exposed an IPL betting racket that was operating with the help of software.

There are 3 blokes who have been arrested in the same matter from the Rani Garden area of Shahdara. ANI took to its Twitter handle and wrote, “The accused have been identified as Pankaj Bajaj, Ajay Malhotra, and Atul Verma.  4 Mobile Phones, a Dell and Acer laptop with Charger, and Wi-Fi Router were recovered from the accused. A Case Under Section 3/4 of the Delhi Public Gambling Act, 1955, has been registered & an investigation is underway: Delhi Police”.

Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Anil Jaisinghani who was a suspected bookie. He was sent to jail after his name came in a money laundering case linked to an under-investigation Indian Premier League (IPL) 'betting racket’.

Jaisinghani and his daughter Aniksha were sent to jail by the Mumbai Police for creating a conspiracy to bribe Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's wife Amruta Fadnavis with the help of private messages,  purportedly hers, to extort money from her when she refused to save Jaisinghani (Anil) from several FIRs lodged against him. The ED was depending on an open non-bailable warrant issued in the past against Jaisinghani by an Ahmedabad court. This warrant was made in 2015 in a money laundering case that was connected with the alleged betting in the IPL matches.
