RCB’s iconic batter Virat Kohli came up with an emotional note for his fans and franchise after his team was eliminated from the playoffs race of the IPL 2023. It was Gujarat Titans against whom RCB were playing in the final league game where they suffered a 6-wicket defeat on Sunday. During that game, Virat produced yet another blinder with his willow and amassed a hundred but could not save his team.
"A season which had it's moments but unfortunately we fell short of the goal. Disappointed but we must hold our heads high. To our loyal supporters, grateful for backing us every step of the way. A big thank you to the coaches, management and my teammates. We aim to be back stronger," Virat wrote on Instagram.
The former RCB skipper ended up making 101* runs in just 61 balls with the help of 13 fours and a six against the defending champions Gujarat Titans on Sunday.
Virat took part in 14 games of IPL 2023 and has 639 runs in his kitty at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate above 139. He collected six fifties this season along with two tons. By the end of the league phase, he was the third-highest run-getter with his colleague Faf du Plessis and Shubman Gill ahead of him.
RCB stalwart has made a total of eight hundred in T20 cricket, including one international century for India and seven tons for RCB. In 375 games so far, he has scored 11,965 runs in his T20 career. Former West Indies legend Chris Gayle has the most numbers of centuries in the T20 format, 22 hundred. Pakistan’s Babar Azam has nine hundreds under his name in T20 cricket.
