Ahead of the IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians have named Sandeep Warrier as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah on Friday. Delhi Capitals om the other hand added Bengal-based wicketkeeper batter Abhishek Porel as Rishabh Pant’s replacement.
Bumrah was forced to take his name out from the IPL 2923 as he sustained a back injury. The last time Bumrah was spotted in action was back in September. The ace India speedster also missed out on playing T20 World Cup and the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
Delhi Capitals’ Rishabh Pant earlier met with a horrific car crash in December 2022 where he sustained multiple injuries. David Warner replaced him as the skipper of Delhi Capitals for the upcoming IPL 2022. Porel, who is the replacement for Pant has featured in 16 First-Class matches alongside 3 List A and as many T20s for Bengal.
Sandeep Warrier on the other hand has represented India and taken 62 wickets in 68 T20s. Earlier, he represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore and has taken part in 5 IPL games. He played for Kerala in domestic cricket before going to Tamil Nadu in 2020. Delhi roped in Porel for INR 20 Lakh while MI acquired Sandeep Warrier by paying him INR 50 Lakh.
