In the ongoing IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals will be donning a unique rainbow-themed jersey for their final game of the IPL 2023 against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. Ever since the 2020 edition, the Delhi-based franchise has always worn jerseys to celebrate India's diversity for one game per season. During the last edition of the IPL, Delhi’s players donned the jersey during their first match of the second half against Kolkata Knight Riders. Post that game it was auctioned off to benefit the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) in Vijayanagar, Karnataka.
Delhi Capitals took to their official Twitter handle and disclosed their rainbow-colored jersey.
"Ending our #IPL2023 campaign on a note! Our boys will be donning these special threads in our last home match of the season at #QilaKotla! #YehHaiNayiDilli #DCvCSK”, DC captioned.
Talking about Delhi Capitals’ campaign, they outplayed Punjab Kings by 15 runs in their last game at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. They will be looking to end their IPL 2023 run on a winning note by defeating CSK.
David Warner’s led team kickstarted their IPL 2023 campaign on a bad note, losing five back-to-back games. But then they bounced back in style as they won four of their next five matches. Capitals lost their 11th and 12th games against CSK and PBKS and as a result, they got eliminated from the ongoing season of IPL.
Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha spoke about Delhi Capitals' batting line-up and said they played freely after the pressure of playoff qualification had been lifted.
In a chat with Jio Cinemas, Ojha commented, "Coach and mentors will be asking where these Delhi Capitals were. The way they batted, the way Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, and Rilee Roussow performed, it was a different kind of batting under pressure. Now that the pressure is off and they are no longer in the race, we have seen a different side of their batting."
